As the Deputy County Executive for the last 17 years, Mike brings a wealth of proven experience to expertly and seamlessly take over the reins as the Chemung County Executive. He is a solution-driven leader who consistently delivers exceptional results. He is instrumental in balancing both the fiscal and service requirements of county government in a way that has protected taxpayers and streamlined operations.
In Mike’s additional role as President of Southern Tier Economic Growth, he is a driving force in economic development. His economic agenda “Facing Challenges by Creating Opportunities” positions our community to move forward against the strong headwinds of a difficult New York State business environment.

Other than time away for pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at SUNY Brockport, Deputy County Executive Mike Krusen has always called Chemung County home. From his childhood days growing up on Elmira’s Southside where he attended the former Southside High School, Mike learned the importance of community involvement, education and a strong work ethic.
After graduating from college, he returned to Chemung County where he committed himself to working in public service and raising his family with his wife, Karen. Two of their three adult children call Chemung County home and work for Corning Inc., and their son works for Bank of America in Charlotte.
Mike is a dedicated public servant recognized as a leader in the effort to save taxpayers money and drive county government to be more results focused and accountable.
